Junk Removal in Monroe, NC: What to Expect & How to Prepare

By County Junk Removal  ·  Union County, NC

Monroe is Union County's county seat — and unlike the newer suburbs that have grown up around it, Monroe has a different character. The homes here are older, the lots are larger, and the residents have often been in the same house for decades. That means more accumulated stuff. A garage that hasn't been cleared out since the kids left home. Appliances from the eighties still sitting in the basement. A shed full of tools and equipment from projects that happened before most of the county's newer neighborhoods were built. If you live in Monroe and you're finally ready to clear it out, here's exactly how our junk removal process works — from the first phone call to the empty driveway.

Step 1: Get a Quote — Text a Photo or Call

The easiest way to get an accurate price is to text a photo of your items to (980) 446-2900. A clear picture of the pile, the room, or the items you need gone gives us most of what we need. We'll respond quickly with an estimate based on how much truck space your load will use.

You can also call us directly or fill out the quote form on the contact page. Most Monroe customers hear back the same day. We're a small family operation — when you reach out, you're talking to Erik or Henry, not an answering service.

Monroe note: Older homes often have denser stuff — cast iron, solid-wood furniture, older appliances with heavy compressors, concrete planters, brick patio materials. For items like these, pricing may be based on weight rather than volume. If you have a lot of heavy material, mention that when you call or text so we can give you the most accurate quote.

Step 2: Schedule a Day and Time

We operate Monday through Saturday, 8am to 6pm. Same-day and next-day appointments are regularly available depending on the schedule. If you call early in the morning, we try to pick up before 8am — a lot of Monroe customers are early risers who want to handle logistics before the day starts.

Monroe has a wide mix of property types — downtown historic homes, older ranch houses on large lots, rural properties on the edge of the county. We work all of them. Whether you're in a tight in-town neighborhood or on a few acres with a long gravel drive, let us know when you schedule and we'll plan accordingly.

Step 3: The Day of the Job

We arrive in a 2019 Isuzu NPR dump truck with a 17-cubic-yard bed. That's bigger than the standard junk removal truck, which matters when you're dealing with decades of accumulated items in a Monroe household. Most cleanouts — even significant ones — load out in a single trip.

You don't need to move anything to the curb or sort it into piles beforehand. We do all the heavy lifting from wherever the items are — upstairs bedroom, back shed, crawl space access, detached garage. Point us to it and we'll handle it. If you're still going through things when we arrive, that's fine. Many Monroe jobs involve sorting decisions made in real time — tell us what goes and we'll load as you work through the rest.

After loading, we do a quick walkthrough with you to confirm everything's done, collect payment, and leave. We don't leave debris, packaging, or mess behind.

What Does It Cost?

Our pricing is all-in — labor, truck, and disposal included. No separate fees for stairs, distance, or the time it takes to carry items from the back of a large lot. Here's the full pricing breakdown:

  • Minimum load — $99 (a few pieces, a small pile)
  • 1/4 truck — $249 (several pieces of furniture, a stack of appliances, a small garage corner)
  • 1/2 truck — $399 (typical bedroom or full garage section)
  • 3/4 truck — $549 (substantial garage cleanout, multi-room clear)
  • Full truck — $699 (full garage, whole-property cleanout, estate volume)

Dense debris — concrete, brick, dirt, roofing shingles — is priced by weight rather than volume. If you have a mix of standard junk and heavy debris, we'll quote both components so you know what to expect before we start.

What Happens to Your Stuff After We Haul It?

We sort as we load. Items in usable condition — furniture that's still solid, working appliances, tools, outdoor equipment, household goods — get separated for donation or resale where possible. We work with local donation partners in Union County to keep reusable items out of the landfill.

What can't be reused is disposed of properly at Union County-approved facilities. If you have questions about specific items — old TV sets, mattresses, propane tanks, paint cans — just ask when you call. We'll let you know upfront how each item gets handled.

What We Cannot Haul

There are a few categories we can't take: household hazardous waste (paint, solvents, chemicals), flammable or explosive materials, and biohazardous items. If you're not sure whether something on your list qualifies, ask before we arrive. It's always better to work that out ahead of time.

A Note for Monroe Homeowners

Monroe is different from the newer suburbs in a few ways that matter for junk removal. Properties tend to be larger. Homes tend to have more storage — detached garages, sheds, outbuildings — that have accumulated material over many years. Older homes often have heavier items: cast iron sinks, solid hardwood furniture, older appliances that weigh more than their modern equivalents.

We do this kind of work regularly in Monroe and throughout Union County. Whether you're clearing a garage that's been packed since the nineties, emptying out a family property, or just finally dealing with the stuff that's been in the shed for years, the process is straightforward. Text a photo to (980) 446-2900, get a price, and we'll handle the rest. See our Monroe service page for more on what we handle in this area.
