Scrap & Debris Removal in Fairview, NC: Getting Rid of What's Piled Up

By County Junk Removal  ·  Union County, NC

Rural properties in Fairview accumulate a specific kind of debris that is different from what you find in a suburban neighborhood. Old fence lines pulled up and stacked at the edge of a field. Scrap metal from equipment that stopped running years ago. Lumber piles left from a project or a teardown. Tires stacked behind the shed. Brush piles that have been there so long they have started to decompose. If any of this sounds familiar, here is a straightforward guide to what we can haul, how we price it, and how we handle large rural properties.

The Debris Common on Rural Union County Properties

The range of materials we handle on Fairview properties is wider than on most suburban jobs. Here is what we see most often:

  • Old fencing — wooden fence posts and rails, chain link, barbed wire, woven wire, T-posts. Mixed materials are common — a mix of wood and metal along the same fence line.
  • Scrap metal — farm equipment parts, old machinery, corrugated metal roofing or siding, metal shelving, pipes, I-beams, sheet metal, broken implements.
  • Rusted and non-running equipment — push mowers, riding mowers, tillers, generators, small tractors. Once equipment stops running and the repair calculus does not pencil out, it typically just sits until someone moves it.
  • Lumber piles — treated or untreated boards and posts, pallets, plywood stacks, demolition wood. Some may be reusable; most has weathered past the point of practical value.
  • Tires — passenger, truck, tractor, and ATV tires. Tires require special handling — more on this below.
  • Brush and woody debris — cut limbs, stumps, brush piles, vine growth. We handle this when it is manageable load-size; large-scale land clearing is a separate type of work.
  • Concrete and masonry — old concrete blocks, broken concrete slabs, brick, landscape stone. Dense and heavy, priced by weight.
  • Mixed property cleanout debris — the combination of materials that accumulates along a fence line, at the back of a shed, or in a field corner over years of farming and rural living.

What We Can Haul vs. What Requires a Specialty Service

We can haul the large majority of what accumulates on rural properties in Fairview. There are a few categories that require different handling:

Tires

Tires are regulated waste in North Carolina. We can take a small number of passenger tires as part of a larger load, but large quantities of tires — especially tractor or commercial tires — require a licensed tire disposal company. If you have a significant tire pile, let us know when you call and we can help point you in the right direction.

Hazardous Materials

Old pesticides, herbicides, motor oil, fuel, and chemical containers cannot go in our truck. These are classified as household hazardous waste and require disposal through Union County's hazardous waste program. Contact Union County Solid Waste for current drop-off event dates.

Large-Scale Land Clearing

If the scope of the work involves clearing acres of brush, removing mature trees, or grading — that is land clearing, not junk removal. For manageable brush piles, cut limbs, and smaller-scale woody debris, we can help. If you are unsure where your project falls, text us a photo and we will give you a straight answer.

When in doubt, text a photo: A clear photo of the debris area tells us most of what we need to know. Send it to (980) 446-2900 and we will give you a price and let you know if anything on the list needs special handling.

How Pricing Works for Heavy Rural Debris

Standard junk removal pricing is based on volume — how much of our 17-cubic-yard truck your load fills. That works well for furniture, household items, and light debris. It does not work well for material that is extremely dense relative to its size.

For heavy debris — concrete, brick, dirt, large quantities of scrap metal, dense farm equipment — we price by weight rather than volume. This is fairer to both sides. A load of concrete blocks might fill only a quarter of the truck but weigh as much as a full load of furniture. Weight-based pricing reflects the actual cost of handling and disposal.

If you have a mix — some standard debris and some heavy material — we will quote both components so you know what to expect before we start. No surprises after loading.

Our standard volume pricing for reference:

  • Minimum load — $99
  • 1/4 truck — $249
  • 1/2 truck — $399
  • 3/4 truck — $549
  • Full truck — $699

How We Handle Large Rural Properties

Fairview properties require a different approach than a typical neighborhood job. Debris is often spread across a large area — along a fence line, at the back of the property, beside several outbuildings. Access can involve long driveways, field roads, or gates. Items may be heavy and require more than one person to move.

When you schedule, tell us about the access situation and the general layout of what you need cleared. We plan accordingly. Our truck can navigate most rural driveways, but if there is a tight turn or a low-clearance gate, we want to know ahead of time.

For jobs with debris spread across multiple areas of a large property, we can work through each area systematically — loading from one location, moving to the next, until the truck is full or the property is clear. Most large Fairview debris jobs load out in a single trip on our 17-cubic-yard truck. If the volume is larger than a full load, we will let you know and schedule accordingly.

Getting Started

Text a photo of the debris area to (980) 446-2900 and we will reply with a price, usually within the hour. If you have heavy material like concrete or large scrap metal, mention that so we can give you accurate weight-based pricing. See our Fairview service page for more on what we handle in this area.
